Once again, I am sorry that it has been a while since my last post but once again, I currently have part of my French GCSE. Therefore, I have to remember a lot of vocabulary and need time to do so. I once again apologise.
For this post, I wanted to do interior/bedroom ideas because, as you may known from my '10 facts about me post', I have recently moved rooms into the attic. My mother is very protective over the walls, meaning I am not allowed to paint them and as a result, I have come up with other ways of decorating my room and reflecting me. Here are six of my tips for those of you who are in the same situation as me or want to change your room;
Number 1. Make a collage on your wall with photos, inspirational quotes and things that relate to you. It can be in a shape or just a random formation, just make sure it makes you happy every day. It can be as large or as small as you would like, depending on the wall size or the amount you want. I have mine on the opposite wall to my bed so it is the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night.
Number 2. Put a nice duvet cover/bed spread onto your bed. This adds warmth to the room and makes it feel more comfortable and cosy. Try to get one that you like a lot and will match your colour scheme or style (that's if you have one, unlike me). Another idea is to just have a plain white duvet but put colourful blankets, throws and cushions on to add more life to it.
Number 3. Present the items you are most proud of and like the most on display. This can be photos, books, CDs, souvenirs and beauty cosmetics such as make up and perfumes. Mine is one of my many happy places because it contains so many memories of my friends and family.
Number 4. Place a rug down. It might not seem like much but if you have an awkwardly shaped room or a very big one, placing down a rug is a good way to create the illusion that the space is filled. Also, it is good for wooden floors, however I recommend putting a 'non-slip rug pad' underneath it to prevent it from sliding around. My favourite place to go for rugs is IKEA because the faux fur ones are so fluffy and I love curling up on mine when I read a book or are on my laptop.
Number 5. Another tip is get rid of anything you do not like or you feel is clutter. When I moved up to the attic, I found there were so many clothes and old things that I didn't want in my new room. Even so, if there are some items that you don't want in your room but don't want to throw away, I suggest you use clever storage; boxes under your bed, rolling up your clothes so you can fit more in your draws, shelves on the wall or even install a storage unit.
Number 6. The reason I did six tips was because I thought that this last point was so important that I could not miss it; fairy lights! I think that it is so nice to have fairy lights in a room because it makes it seem more homely and warmer. You can get them from anywhere; IKEA, Habitat, Amazon, any supermarket. To attach them to the wall, I would advise purchasing these little nails with hooks which you screw into the wall over the string of fairy lights. These nails are hardly noticeable and it means that you can put your fairy lights up anywhere.
There you have it, 6 small ways to change your bedroom. I am sorry that I explained why I thought each item was necessary in detail but I shall post again soon. If you have any ideas, please tell me. Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed this blog. Bye for now!
